Jersey Shore

Mike and I took our last trip of the summer last week. We packed our bags and headed out to the Jersey Shore to visit his family. Just like previous years, the Jersey Shore did not disappoint! We spent the week hanging out with the family, sunning on the beach (or if you are me, sitting on the beach under the umbrella), and eating the best pizza ever.

I am going to start with the pizza because it was that good.
This is the best pizza I have ever had. EVER. It was a white pie with pesto, tomato, and mozzarella. I ate this pizza 4 times. yes, 4 times. I also ate pizza every day that I was there except for one day. My waistline hates me right now.

Besides pizza, our week was filled with bike rides, beach, and family. What a great way to spend the week.

I also ate my first water ice. Delicious!

Here we are at a bar called Yesterday's. I am wearing my hat courtesy of Val and Gene. Thanks, guys!
Here we are in Cape May. We spent the day walking around this gorgeous, quaint town.

Here we are on our last night at a seafood restaurant in Ocean City.

Omaha

I am backtracking a bit here. A couple of weeks ago we went to see Mike's family in Omaha. We got to see both of Mike's sisters, our gorgeous niece, our brother-in-law, and Mike's mom! It was a wonderful weekend filled with baby time, trips to the zoo, laughing, eating, wine, and good conversation.

I wish our trip could have lasted longer, but sadly, it was only for a long weekend. Hopefully we can all get together again soon!

One of the highlights of the trip was our trip to the zoo. The Omaha zoo is pretty amazing! They have a jungle, a great aquarium, and loads of other animals. My favorites were the penguins and the baby gorilla.

Dead Dog

My poor shoes. I found the chewed one in the backyard. :/ I was not happy.

Too Cute

Look at this cutie! I tried to take pictures of Duke, but he wouldn't stop barking. Rude!

SPI

Mike and I headed down to South Padre Island last weekend. We had planned on staying a week and spending the holiday there, but hurricane Alex cut our trip short.

I went down a few days early to spend time with my family and Mike joined me on Saturday. We headed down to the island to stay at my dad's place. Thanks, Dad!

Sunday we went fishing in the bay with my dad. We didn't catch anything and had to end up coming back early because the boat was taking on water. Scary!

Monday was spent lounging on the beach and allowing Shah to swim in the ocean for the first time. He loved it! We ended up coming back on Tuesday because of the weather, but had a great time anyways.

Our last night there. We got a drink at Pirate's Landing.

Cabo

Mike and I are back from Cabo. Our vacation can be summed up in a few words: beach, pool, margaritas, guacamole, repeat. Needless to say it was wonderful!

We spent our few days there relaxing on the beach, sipping margaritas, and reading. Cabo is beautiful! We didn't do much exploring, but if we had been there longer, I know we would have.

We stayed at Cabo Azul Resort. I would highly recommend it! It was our first time not doing the all-inclusive thing, but we really enjoyed it! Since we had a full kitchen, it made eating much easier and more economical.

Here we are on our last night enjoying drinks in the tower at the Crowne Plaza. It had a great view!

Sunrises on the beach.

Hugs on the beach.
Walks on the beach.

Mountains surrounding the beach.

Our hotel was a one bedroom with full kitchen, that I am pretty sure was bigger than our first apartment.

We were sad to leave, but we are looking forward to our other summer trips. Next up: McAllen/South Padre!

Birthday

I had a wonderful birthday yesterday! Mike and I started out by spending the night at The Crossings, a spa here in Austin. We spent time by the pool, hiked, and enjoyed being out of the city. I got a massage and just enjoyed the day.

My delicious carrot cake.

My flowers from Mike.

We had dinner at Zoot and then met up with friends for drinks. All in all, it was a wonderful day!

Lake Austin

Mike and I love to go to the lake. We are members of a boat club, and one of our favorite things to do is head out to Lake Austin. It is gorgeous and relaxing. During the summer we spend as much time as possible out there. We are excited that summer is here!

Our New Lawn

Recently, we had a landscaper come and redo our front yard. Most of the grass was removed, and plants were brought it. Now we have a variety of plants and a walkway from the driveway to the gate. It looks good, but I am looking forward to the plants growing and taking up more room.

Living off the Land

Well, we aren't quite living off the land yet, but we do have 5 tomatoes and an eggplant growing! Nothing so far from the squash or the jalapeƱo plant, but soon we shall have tomatoes. I will pair them with herbs from our garden and pretend that I can survive off the things I grow.

Grandma's Visit

Val came for a visit this past week. It was so wonderful having her here! We took the dogs swimming, ate lots of Mexican food, saw the lake, and had lots of good conversations!

Shah went swimming for the second time and he did a much better job than the first time! I think Duke is teaching his brother well.

We took Val to a creek by our house that we usually go to. It has a hiking trail and a waterfall. Since we have had lots of rain lately, the creek was pretty high.

Duke would jump in, Shah would follow and help him pull the toy to shore. It was cute. I will post videos of it.

On Val's last night we went to The Oasis. It is on Lake Travis and has an absolutely gorgeous view. I thought I had left my camera at home, so there are not any pictures of dinner. I did, however, locate my camera in my purse after dinner and we managed to get a few shots in.
